Our Story
In 2011, Viren Patel and Manthan Patel were participating in a program at Landmark Education where they had to take a project to serve others a part of Self Expression & Leadership program.
Viren took on distributing winter jackets to young kids upto age 12 and Manthan took on to raise awareness for traffic in Ahmedabad.
Viren took on the target of 500 jackets to be distributed to kids. Manthan empowered him to raise his target as he promised to fund first 500 jacket. Viren decided to serve 1500 kids that year. Since then, year after year, the project went on. Next year, they together distributed 2500 jackets. In 2013, Manthan created Making A Difference, as an NGO, where it would be platform for a lot of people who want to contribute to society in either form time, money or sharing the projects with people in their life to enrol them to volunteer or contribute financially to the best of their capacity.
As the formation of NGO happened, the team increased. They added more people as directors in the NGO and everyone started contributing. The originating directors were Manthan Patel, Rajvi Patel, Dhiren Sanghdia, Sandeep Gandhi, Dhaval Patel, Sultan Hudda and Rucha Thakkar. Team MAD started adding projects as the volunteers grew. They started doing blood donation camps, old age home programs, buttermilk distribution to police and people living on streets in summer. In around 2016, directors realised that if want to make a lasting impact on the future of our country, we need to impact education.
They did a lot of thinking and planning on how to do that as there are lot of people working in the field of education but they were looking at the most effective way to advance the able, smart and committed student to reach to their best of the potential. They decided to sponsor the school/college fees of the students who are good in studies (Min 70% result) and have a poor financial family background. In 2016, they started with 4 students by sponsoring their fees.
With committed actions towards education, right now, in June 2023, Team MAD is supporting 122 students for their school/college fees. We ensure that they maintain minimum 70% to continue getting scholarship from us. If they procure below 70%, we give them 1 chance, we only pay 75% of their fees for next year, and the following year, if their result is not back up to 70%, we drop them from sponsorship until they bring their result back up. The intention of doing this is that we also have an obligation to our donors where they want to support their kids who are committed to study and create a career.
In covid times, we did few one time projects such as :

Distributing multi-vitamins to traffic police of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar (total 16000 men and women) as they were the ones serving us on the street and being exposed to be infected the most.

We adopted 7 Villages, 1100 familes and provided them with food (Rice, Dal, Flour, Onions, Tomatoes) in the first round of covid for 7 weeks. We would make good kits for a family of four that would last them a week and go to each village every week and distribute it to all 1100+ families near Khatraj Village area.

We distributed homeopathy medicine called Arsenicum Album to 50000+ households during covid with the help of our volunteer, Dr Hardik Khamar who supplied those to us.
